Procurement and Planning Specialist
We are seeking an experienced, highly organized Procurement and Planning Specialist to lead, manage, and own the processes and actions of ensuring all prototypes through production electro-mechanical assembly and product builds are enabled per plan. This will require close collaboration with both Operations and R&D Engineering personnel through the prototype process, transitions to multiple production contract manufacturing facilities utilizing MRP tools, and order fulfillment.
Reporting to the Product Engineering and Operations Manager, this role is a key position as part of a growing, innovative product team and is ideal for a professional with high attention to details, demonstrated project organization skills, and who enjoys working with internal teams, contracted manufacturing professionals, and suppliers in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with manufacturing and business goals.
• Lead cross-functional teams in procurement, planning, inventory control, logistics, and warehouse operations.
• Oversee demand forecasting, capacity planning, and production scheduling to meet customer and production requirements.
• Electrical and mechanical component procurement and inventory maintenance as required.
• Evaluate supplier proposals, comparing costs, lead times, and technical specifications to support informed decision-making.
• Analyze market trends to identify cost saving opportunities and alternative sources.
• Establish, monitor, and support KPIs and metrics to measure performance such as on-time delivery, quality, and responsiveness to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement.
• Partner with engineering, quality, operations, and finance teams to support ongoing and future new product introductions.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and drive supplier performance.
• Optimize inventory levels to balance cost, risk, and service level requirements.
• Lead supply chain digitalization and MRP/ERP system improvement initiatives including enabling different organizational systems to inter-operate seamlessly.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, OSHA, ITAR).
• Work with Operations management and peers to enable a high-performing supply chain team to support current and future business needs.
• Drive procurement process improvements while implementing best practices for efficiency and transparency.
Requirements & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
• This position requires working directly or indirectly with the US Government in restricted environments. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (Green Card holder).
• 7+ years of progressive experience in supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of project management system gates.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, production planning, and ERP/MRP systems. Experience with Fishbowl is strongly preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience managing global supplier networks.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Up to 10% travel.
Preferred Certifications:
• APICS CPIM / CSCP.
• Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
• PMP or similar project management certification.
